HPM Building Supply 100th Anniversary:

Celebrating a Century of Helping Hawai‘i Build and Live Better
In 1921, two Japanese immigrants on Hawai‘i Island started a lumber operation called Hawaii Planing Mill. A century later, under the leadership of five generations of the Fujimoto family, HPM Building Supply has grown into a statewide building supplier, retailer, and manufacturer with 16 locations across four major Hawaiian Islands.

Olomana Loomis ISC serves as HPM’s marketing agency, and we partnered with them to develop a multifaceted year-long campaign to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary. We started by conducting more than 50 interviews with past and present employees, community leaders, business partners, and customers to learn about its history and impact on the lives of its stakeholders and the community.

We created centennial-branded messaging across multiple touchpoints, including: a 12-part video series, website, advertising, social media, giveaways, email, blog series, and public relations. In keeping with HPM’s long-standing focus on community service, the company committed to completing 100 Acts of Service across the state. The inspiring legacy of HPM continues as the company looks forward to further expansion and innovation in its second century.
